Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized pumpkin
- 3/4 cup of diced bacon
- 1 small diced onion
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 tablespoon of Bulldozer Hogfather rub

- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cream (optional)
Preparation
- With a sharp knife, cut off the top of the pumpkin and remove the seeds and pulp.
- Use a sharp knife to make an outline on the pumpkin, and cut out the pumpkin lid at a 45-degree angle.
- Dice the onion and bacon.
- Melt the butter in a pan and add the onion and bacon. Fry until cooked.
- Mix the Bulldozer Hogfather rub and the Bulldozer Spog rub together.
- Season the inside of the pumpkin with the rub mix and salt and pepper.
- Fill the pumpkin with the cooked bacon and onion mixture.
Smoking the Pumpkin
- Prepare the Weber grill for smoking - set it up for indirect cooking at 350°F. Add some wood chunks to the coals
- Place the pumpkin on the other side of the grill, away from the charcoal and coals.
- Cover the grill with the lid and let the pumpkin smoke for 1 hour.
Cooking the Soup
- Remove the pumpkin from the grill and take out the cooked bacon and onion mixture.
- Add the mixture to a large pot.
- Scoop out the cooked pumpkin flesh and add it to the pot.
- Add water to the pot until it covers the pumpkin mixture.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Blending the Soup
- Use a hand blender to blend the soup until it's smooth and creamy.
- If the soup is too thick, add more water until it reaches the desired consistency.
